By 2015 synthetic fuels production via GTL process is expected to approach 80,000 barrels per day or more than 4 million tonnes per year. There are operating plants in Malaysia and Qatar, with a further world scale plant under construction in Qatar. By 2011, the production of NexBTL will reach 2 million metric tonnes. With the global development of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) and Biomass to Liquids (BTL), a combination of these three technologies will be supplying increasing volumes of low local emissions fuels to the transport market.
